TWO HARBOR FALL SERIES
NOTICE OF RACE
Pierpont Bay Yacht Club and Anacapa Yacht Club invite you to enter the 2017 Two Harbor Fall Series. This series offers the best of fall racing in a three race series. All the races start in the vicinity of the Mandalay buoy. Please note that AYC will host races 1 and 3, and PBYC will host race 2. Hope to see you on the water.
Race #1: October 21 (hosted by AYC)
Race #2: November 11 (hosted by PBYC)
Race #3: December 2 (hosted by AYC)
TIME: The start signal for the first class is scheduled for 1130 hours each day.
COURSE: The course will be chosen from the 2017 Two Harbor Fall Series Course
Chart. Course lengths vary from 7 to 23 nautical miles and will be coastal in nature. All starts will be in the vicinity of the Mandalay buoy. The 1st and 3rd races finish at Channel Islands Harbor; the 2nd race finishes at Ventura Harbor.
CLASSES: PHRF – handicapped Spinnaker and Non-spinnaker classes and an ORCA-handicapped class will be formed with class breaks determined by entries.
Other classes may be formed at the discretion of the Race Committee.
All PHRF handicapped classes shall carry the safety equipment specified by the U.S. Safety Equipment Requirements for U.S. Nearshore Races (Definition1.0.3). Refer to: http://www.ussailing.org/safety/equipment-and-requirements/, which is also available on PBYC’s web site, www.pbyc.org. In addition, lifeline requirements 2.4.1–2.4.8 apply with the exception that coated lifelines are permitted.
Requirement 3.8.2 is modified in that the radio need not have DSC/GPS capability.
The minimum number of persons aboard shall be two. Regardless of class, PHRF- handicapped boats are required to have a current PHRF certificate to be eligible for series trophies.
The race will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing. The PHRF MIR Rule does not apply. The Sailing Instructions will be available at the Skippers Meeting, which will be held at the host club promptly at 0830 hours each race day. Registration will be accepted from 0800 to 0830 hours each race day. The entry fee for the series is $80 ($70 for USSA members), and the entry fee for individual races is $30 ($25 for USSA members). Boats need to be registered for the series prior to the second race to be eligible for series trophies.
Daily awards will be presented at the attitude adjustment period following each race at the host Club. Series trophies will be a warded after the last race at AYC.
