2012 Cruising

2012 Cruising Calendar

Ahoy AYC Members and friends,

I am happy to announce the highly sought after master cruising calendar is complete. We have a variety of cruises planned, so find the ones that you like and make some time to enjoy the islands.

All scheduled cruises are subject to the current weather conditions. It is the responsibility of each skipper to check said weather conditions to make sure that they are suitable for their vessel. The times and dates on the cruising calendar are subject to change without notice, so please check in with me to get the latest details of the cruise that you are interested in attending.

Best regards,

Joe Underwood

March - No cruises scheduled, but if a good weather window opens we can make a spot decision at a Friday night dinner to head out.
April 14th Lunch cruise to Ventura Yacht Club
May 26th, 27th & 28th The annual ASBCYC all club cruise to Prisoners Harbor Santa Cruz Island. This is the place to be for Memorial weekend, this cruise is always a great adventure. Last year it was blown out, but in past years it has been an amazing treat with the whales breaching right in front of the anchorage for hours on end.
June 2nd & 3rd Club Cruise to Yellow Banks, sister anchorage to Smugglers...
30th to July 1st Cruise to Scorpion. This is the Island trip for those of you who like to get into a kayak and explore all the wonderful caves that surround this anchorage. Truly a great adventure with loads of cool spots to see.
July 2nd through 6th Club Cruise to Cat Harbor Catalina Island to celebrate the 4th of July. This is a great place on Catalina to toss the hook and spend a Monday through Friday enjoying the island life.
21st and 22nd Cruise to Smugglers cove. This anchorage is for the hikers, make sure to bring a dry bag with you as going ashore and getting your dinghy off the beach can be very exciting. Once ashore there are several great trails and historical sights to see. Make sure to bring water and good hiking shoes as there is much to see.
August 12th through the 19th AYC Club Cruise, circum navigation of Santa Cruz Island (7 days at sea) 12th & 13th Coches, 14th & 15th Forney’s Cove, 16th Cueva Valdez, 17th Fry’s Harbor, 18th & 19th Pelican Cove, after lunch head for home.
September 1st, 2nd and 3rd Santa Barbra City Race and Tequila Derby. This is a race that AYC puts on and is a blast to see how fast some of our cruising boats are. Last year old Huba Huba brought home a trophy in the non-spin class. It’s a great party at the Santa Barbra guest dock and loads of fun to get the boat over to SB...
22nd & 23rd Cruise to Pelican Cove, this is truly the best spot on the front side of the Island, hiking and taking the dinghy’s exploring is the best way to see all of the wonders of the anchorage.
October 6th, 7th & 8th Cruise to Albert’s and Coches. These two anchorages are right next to each other and both offer great shelter and sights. Coches has the better beach but Albert’s has all the high cliffs that house the beautiful birds of the island. Great time to relax and unwind.
27th Club day cruise for Whale watching. This is the time of the year when the whales start to make the trip South for the winter down in Mexico, good chance to see them out in the channel...
November 10th Lunch Cruise to Frenchy’s cove Anacapa Island.
December 29th, 30th and 31st Annual Club Cruise to Coches, bring in the New Year AYC style out on the hook...
