It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Anacapa Yacht Club! We are located in
beautiful Channel Islands Harbor, California, approximately 60 miles northwest of
Los Angeles. Our location is ideal, with Santa Barbara a short day's sail to the north,
Los Angeles a quick spinnaker reach to the south, and the pristine beauty of the
Channel Islands a mere 11 miles away.
We are a family-oriented, self-serve club that relies on volunteerism from our membership
to support our activities. Our primary focus is sailing and sailboat racing, and we sponsor an active, year
round racing program. Our popular Wet Wednesday series begins in the spring and
continues through the fall, offering competitive yet relaxed racing in the middle
of the work week. These races take advantage of the long summer days, and all sailors
are welcome to join in the fun in either PHRF Spinnaker or Non-spinnaker classes.
AYC offshore events include the Channel Islands to Newport Beach Race (which also
serves to position boats for the Ensenada race the following weekend!), the Wes Golemon
Memorial race, and the famed Santa Barbara City Race & Tequila Derby.
We also actively support junior sailing. We have joined with other yacht clubs in
Channel Islands Harbor to form the Pacific Corinthian Youth Foundation. This foundation
provides activities and sailing instruction for all interested youth and acts as a
stepping stone for a lifetime of sailing enjoyment. Our juniors sail competitively
with the best from throughout Southern California.
AYC offers a full set of social activities as well. Our Friday evening dinners
are extremely popular, and we conduct post-race parties and other group activities
to meet the needs of our members and guests. The Wet Wednesday barbeques are not
to be missed! Our clubhouse provides the best view of the harbor, with summer sunsets
especially picturesque.
We are co-located with Channel Islands Landing, which provides dry storage for trailerable
boats up to 30 feet in length and a 3-ton hoist for launching. If you bring your
boat by land, they can get you in and out of the water in a jiffy! For more information
on the services they offer, call them at 805/985-6059. If you bring your boat by sea,
we honor reciprocal agreements with most Southern California yacht clubs. Contact
our Port Captain for information and guest dock reservations.
If you are planning a trip to Channel Islands Harbor, are interested in club membership,
or have other questions, please contact either the AYC office or one of our Club officers.
We'll be happy to assist in whatever way we can.
See you on the water!
Warm Regards,
Ira Bigeleisen
